London Bombing Update: CBS News Report

The jihadi website al Hesbah had an earlier posting of the bomb plot:
=====================================================================================
"Today I say: Rejoice, by Allah, London shall be bombed." ...

Al-Hazeen's message begins: "In the name of God, the most compassionate, the most merciful. Is Britain Longing for al Qaeda's bombings?"

Al-Hazeen decries the recent knighthood of controversial author Salman Rushdie as a blow felt by all British Muslims. "This 'honoring' came at a crucial time, a time when the whole nation is reeling from the crusaders attacks on all Muslim lands," he said, in an apparent reference to the British role in Iraq.

"We say to Britain: The Emir of al Qaeda, Sheikh Osama, has once threatened you, and he carried out his threats. Today I say: Rejoice, by Allah, London shall be bombed," the message reads.
=====================================================================================
al Qaeda has called upon "the faithful to execute attacks upon the infidel."

Car bombs at a local, popular, nightclub, and potentially at a heavily frequented tourist area are typical targets, as are heavily populated malls.

Can car bombs in America be far behind?

Slaying 100's for the knighting of Salman Rushdie?  Riots because of cartoons?  And the Dimocrats want to weaken the PATRIOT ACT, limit the president's power, insist upon closing of Gitmo, and Clinton appointees declare terrorists on the homeland not to be enemy combatants.

I, for one, don't want a Dimocratic president in 2009.  We will be putting a Russian Roulette pistol in our hands, filled, not with just one bullet but rather every chamber filled...

Today's Must Read: Liberalism v. Islamism

In light of today's event(s) in London I wanted to bring attention to my readers an article by Melanie Phillips, author of Londonistan (Hattip: The Interface).  Britain is under attack, and the attackers seem to be mainly coming from those who live within their society.

In many areas Sharia Law has replaced, or is being allowed or simply overlooked, by the British government.  Ms. Phillips argument is that liberalism, at it's fundamental core, is "commitment to a free society, founded above all on the separation of secular government from religious worship — from which follow the concepts of equal respect for all people, freedom of conscience, tolerance and the rule of law."  While Islamism is dominated by a "politicised version of Islam which mandates jihad, or holy war against the infidel and conquest of the non-Islamic world for Islam. I’m well aware of the argument that there’s no difference between Islamism and Islam: that’s a theological argument for others to have."

What has scared me about reading this article is that we in the United States are headed in this direction.  The core values, Judeo-Christian values, are steadily being attacked and replaced by liberal mores.  The attack on marriage, the attack on the display of the Nativity Scene, the display of the Ten Commandments, the Cross here in San Diego.  We are now debating marriage and what it means.  Does it mean "one man, one woman?" Or can it's definition be replaced by something else?  Civil Unions, marriage between those of the same gender?  Multiple partners (mainly one man and many wives)- polygamy; this is now a social norm in some areas of Britain, and there is discussion of recognition for inheritance purposes.

This is the slippery slope we are headed here in the United States.  Those on the left have begun to make the argument that there is no right and wrong (a basic argument in Ms. Phillips article).  Minorities must be treated equally- whether or not they have been assimilated into our communities.  We now print on virtually ever label both English and Spanish.  What would our founding fathers have thought of that when English was chosen over German as the official language of the United States (by a mere one vote)?

What used to refer to immigration here in the America was we would accept all who wished to come and seek a better life.  When they came from Ireland, from Italy and elsewhere, they gravitated to areas of similar immigrants.  They set up communities of their own, and set about to become American's first.  They spoke our language, and many worked to better their lives and those of their successive generations.

Now, we merely want to accept even illegal immigrants.  We must learn their language, not the reverse.  We can't even call them illegal, they are merely "undocumented" or some other benign term.  We do not ask them to assimilate into our culture any longer.  We want to accept them as they are.

Soon, will we too have pockets of Islamic areas where Sharia Law trumps American law, and civil liberties.  When we abandon any concept of right and wrong, truth and lies, we are headed down a slippery slope.  And, we are headed in that direction.  The Marriage Amendment is a classic example of this debate.  If you say that marriage is (recognized historically)  defined as between one man and one woman you are a bigot.  Recognition of polygamy is wrong, bestiality is wrong, marriage between the same gender is wrong, honor killings or maiming is wrong.  What people do within the confines of their home is their business, and not that of the government.  When it becomes the norm, and/or legalized we are headed down to the destruction of our civilization.

The argument in Ms. Phillips article is that we have abandoned the principles of the Enlightenment, and I hold that of our Founding Fathers.  Islamofascism (my term, hers being Islamism):

"What we are living through in the west is nothing short of a repudiation of the Enlightenment, a repudiation of reason; and its substitution by irrationality, obscurantism, bigotry and clerical totalitarianism — all facilitated by our so-called ‘liberal’ society, and all in the name of ‘human rights’. Western liberalism now embraces its Islamist mortal enemies and attacks its American and Israeli allies in the fight to defend civilisation.

We are giving the Islamists the message that we are theirs for the taking. This is how liberalism may disappear up its own backside."

That is a scary proposition.  If we lose in Iraq, if we cannot contain or overthrow the Islamofascists in Palestine, in Iran, in Saudi Arabia, and replace it by democracies, we will be under attack for millennia...

London Car Bomb Foiled or Failed

The big headlines for the morning is the failed (or is it foiled) car bomb in London's Piccadilly Circus.  There, a Mercedes  was seen driving erratically and crashed into some trash cans.  The driver fled on foot; good luck buddy, can you say candid camera?  The car was seen to have been smoking, filled with gas canisters (propane) and the trunk was filled with nails.  Inside the bar where the car crashed: 1700 patrons enjoying a Ladies Night.

A couple of things come to mind regarding the plot.  Did the driver get cold feet? He fled, instead of staying in the car to ensure it's explosion, not much of a committed card carrying al-Qaeda member.  The timing is suspect, coming on the heels of the transfer of government; Blair to Brown, perhaps a challenge?  And it also comes near the anniversary of Princess Diana's death; as we all know she dies in the rear of a Mercedes. It also comes near the anniversary of the first London Bombings of, was it, 7/7?

This smacks of a home grown, disgruntled Muslim, similar to previous bombings in London.  Again, speculation, maybe this was a dry run???  Could more be on the way?  Iran has said it has 1000's lined up to commit to suicide bombing, mainly in the U.S.  Interesting, that lately the British press has been reporting that there have been incursions into Iraq by Iranian armed forces, helicopters, etc.  In fact one quote made by a British soldier (?) was that (I am paraphrasing here), "we are at war with Iran, it just hasn't been declared."

Update (6:31 am PDT): Now there is word that there may be another suspicious car in Park Lane.  Park Lane has been closed down at this tie (FOXNews).

Senate Debate On Immigration Reform: Cloture Vote

Senator Kennedy is such a blowhard...

The arrogance of the Senate is amazing, this bill, the investigations of the White House, the subpoenas...

The Do-Nothing Congress- 110th Congress.

I guess that is not such a bad thing...

Congress' favorability is at 20%, does this not tell them something?

Senate Debate on Immigration Reform

Can someone explain to me why the Dimocrats, or those in favor of cloture, get 40-50 minutes of debate and those against only get 10 minutes.  The phone system of the Senate/Congress has crashed becaused there are so many calls, primarily against...Senate doesn't get it.  Senator Sessions gets it, Senator Vitter gets it...

Vote at 10:50 eastern time...

I hate the argument that this is the best that we are going to get...

Karen KC Emails Me Her 40th Post: 40 Years After War...

Okay, I am willing to guess that I am not the lone conservative blogger that receives this woman's 'posts' and/or letter to the editor and/or 'articles.'  I have asked her politely to remove me from her email to no avail.  Sometimes what she writes piques my interest though, as the one this morning did, here for your perusal:
=====================================================================================
Forty Years After War – Violence Still Reigns

"Hamas has overtaken Gaza, the bombing of Iran is seriously being considered in certain quarters, and there have been setbacks in Lebanon, Pakistan, Afghanistan and in the situation with the Kurds in northern Iraq and Turkey and the state of affairs in Iraq, itself, could not be worse.

I have two loved ones in the service. I am not a foreign policy expert but I have had about enough of the absolute refusal to consider any original ideas, certainly in the political arena, but from news services as well.

I would like to know on what authority does the KC Star think that Western society had the power to establish the state of Israel. Is it because the West has no respect, whatsoever, for these ancient cultures? Is it because the West wanted a foothold in the area? Is it because there was no “state” there? Were the inhabitants of the land in any way given a say or compensated for their land? Is it because of the Bible – this ancient deed to property? Are you aware that the concept of Holy War began with the Bible? God, himself, told the Hebrews to slaughter - in the entirety - numerous tribes of indigenous people (Heathens) to take their land, the Promised Land.

I am not willing to sacrifice my loved ones for a fallacy or a fantasy. "

=====================================================================================
Oh, there is so much that I would remind Karen.  She abhors violence, as all who value life do.  She even has a personal connection to those who might be in harms way, and for that I would pray for her and her family members.  I will not even begin to explain to her the reason that "Western society had the power to establish the state of Israel" as there are those more qualified to delve into the explanation, see Michael Medved for one.

Ms. karen after blaming Western Civilization for the hatred, death and destruction goes on to place the blame squarely on the Bible, God and the Hebrews (gosh, she forgot the Zionists, the neo-cons, etc.).  Normally, this post should also have placed President George W. Bush in between Western Civilization and God as ms. karen is one infected by that horrible disease known as BDS or Bush Derangement Syndrome.  I am sure that her follow up article will include this, or it will be corrected by the editor to whom she directs these emails.

This is the typical question/statement that comes from one who has some knowledge of the Bible and God's power and omnipotence, but denies Him.  However, it is usually phrased in a somewhat different manner, along the lines of "Why do bad things happen to good people" or "Why does God allow such horrible things to occur..."

I would remind ms. karen that upon a better reading and understanding of the Bible we live in a fallen world.  Adam and Eve were given the keys to the Kingdom, and were able to have and do anything they wanted, except "eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil (Gen 2:15-17)."  God gave man (Adam and Eve, you and I) free will, and Satan in the form of the serpent convinced Eve that she would "be like God (Gen 3:4-5). When Eve ate from the tree and Adam also partook of the same the Earth became the realm of the Devil.

My effort here is not to give a full exegesis of the Bible, but to remind ms. karen that the blame lies squarely on the Evil One, not on the Holy One.  I won't get into the son's of Abraham (Ishmael and Isaac), and the whole difference in their descendants-  the Israelites, Arabs and Edomite peoples.

I will never understand the reason that those of ms. karenkc's ilk want to place blame fully on Western Civilization (which, if pressed she would say the United States) and not upon those who perpetuate the violence.  Gaza is now controlled by an islamofascist terror group, Hamas, that has sworn to destroy Israel.  Hamas killed, maimed, and with great violence meted out their terror upon fellow Palistinians.  Does this sound remotely familiar, Iran, perhaps?  Does the whack job Ahmadinejad come to mind?  When you break it down, Israel now has a mini-Terror, state, funded and supplied by Iran, that can now wreak havoc upon Israel and perhaps goad her into another war.  Mark my words that katyusha rockets will rain down on Israel.

Does anyone else see the thread (or threat) that is the Global War on Islamofascism?  Al-qaeda is killing more muslims than "Western Civilization (code speak for the United States, of course)."  The Taliban is killing innocent women and children in Afghanistan with it's car bombs and IEDs,  Al-qaeda the same in Iraq.  Hamas kills Palistinians, Syria assassinates moderate lawmakers.  Iran threatens to wipe Israel off the map, is fully engaged in creating it's own nuclear weapons, foments terror throughout the world.

And, mind you these Islamofascists have not just threatened Israel.  Israel is priority one for Islamofascists, and next in these murderers is "Western Civilization (read that primarily the United States).  Note, I am not attacking all those who believe in Islam, only those who have twisted and interpreted the Koran for their evil, murderous, destructive, power hungry intent.  So, ms karenkc, don't label me racist or an Islamophobe.  My eyes are wide open, and fully a believer in God's word that is the Bible, and in His promises.

I pray for you, and especially for your family members that are in the service.  Lastly, I leave you with these quotes from George Orwell and George Washington:

"We sleep safe in our beds because rough men stand ready in the night to visit violence on those who would do us harm."
~
George Orwell

To be prepared for war is one of the most effective means of preserving peace."
~
George Washington (January 8, 1790)

For similar quotes visit one of my other blogs: Daily Right Quotes.

I invite all to consider and please comment, I look forward to a civilized debate...

Immigration Debate: Teddy Roosevelt Quotes

The Senate is trying to revive the miserable bill called Comprehensive Immigration Reform McCain-Kennedy.  So, for the edification of those Senators that are on the fence and might flip (courtesy of Laura Ingraham):

Below is the list of 15 GOP senators that the amnesty pushers want to flip to their side (asterisked senators are up for re-election in 2008)

Please contact these Sneators and tell them that we will not send money to their campaigns, and/or to the RNC or any Republican cause as long as they support this failed, miserable, exorbitantly expensive, enlargement of government bureaucracy attempt at reform.

First, BUILD THE FENCE
Second, ENFORCE THE CURRENT LAWS
Third, BUILD A LARGER MORE EFFICIENT BORDER PATROL
Fourth, then worry about the 13 million (or 10 million by some counts) that are here...

Then, for everyone's edification here are the quotes of Teddy Roosevelt:

Found these perusing quotes:

Every immigrant who comes here should be required within five years to learn English or leave the country.
Theodore Roosevelt

A thorough knowledge of the Bible is worth more than a college education.
Theodore Roosevelt

There can be no fifty-fifty Americanism in this country. There is room here for only 100 percent. Americanism, only for those who are Americans and nothing else.
Theodore Roosevelt

Theodore Rossevelt uses the Bully Pulpit to speak out on Immigration
In the first place we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated upon the man's becoming in very fact an American, and nothing but an American...There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but is something else also, isn't an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag, and this excludes the red flag, which symbolizes all wars against liberty and civilization, just as much as it excludes any foreign flag of a nation to which we are hostile...We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language...and we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people.
~ Theodore Roosevelt 1907

Ask for The Reagan Diaries:

I am also asking for the new J.R.R. Tolkein book:

Details

(I was having troubles getting into my Townhall editor page, thus the lack of posting over the last several days.  Who knew that I could log in using the email address using DOT and AT rather than the actual email address.  I have a lot to say regarding Paris Hilton- you go judge, she should be thrown back into jail along with the Sherrif or underSherrif...And, there is so much to post about the foolish rush to pass the "Bi-Partisan Comprehensive Immigration McCain-Kennedy Bill, thank God there have been brave Republicans and a few Dimocrats that san see the truth in passing a deeply flawed bill...It should be baby steps- SECURE THE BORDER-BUILD THE FENCE!!!!- Then enforce the laws that are already on the books, then reform from there...

PS: If there are any Republican Party bigwwigs reading my humble blog-  I am withholding my contributions from the party-  I will not put my money to work for anyone in the party that has backed the Immigartion bill.  I will contribute to Duncan Hunter for now, and if he doesn't get the party nomination I will contribute to anyone other than John McCain.  I would give money to Ron Paul before I ever give to John McCain, and would not vote for John McCain in the general election, that is how angry I am with him for his compromise.  We need leadership, not a party that caves into or kowtows to the socialist party that is the Dimocrats.  Case in point, Maj. Leader Harry Reid referring tp the 12 million undocumented "Americans."  (Does that include every one of the terrorists that have come across the border, the coyotes, the drug smugglers, the members of MS-13?) That is an utter affront to every American citizen, to every immigrant that has had to go through the legal process of becoming an American.  Harry Reid should just begin calling California state of Mexico...he might just end up giving it away in the end...)

Here's the roll:

Scooter Libby Sentenced: Immediate Presidential Pardon

Scooter Libby's sentence was just handed down: 30 months in Federal Prison plus a fine of $250,000, following parole he will have 2 years of monitoring and has to do 240 hours of community service. All this for committing obstruction of justice in a case that wasn't, a case that dragged on for years, and the prosecutor knew who leaked Ms. Plame's name from the beginning: Richard Armitage.  The leaker wasn't even prosecuted.

I am going to give President Bush some unsolicited advice:  pardon Scooter immediately, don't even allow for the appeals process to drag on for years.  The case should be dismissed in the first place.  If one can be sent to federal prison for forgetting a sequence of events (conversations with journalists) following one the most heinous attacks on the homeland, prosecuting a war, and tracking global jihadis, then the journalists involved should be prosecuted as well: ie. Chris Matthews.

This is an absolute travesty of justice.  If Dimocrats wish to complain then they should explain the criminals that their beloved Clinton pardoned (does the name Mark Rich mean anything to you?).

The God Debate: Round One- Roberts vs. Hitchens

Oh boy, (the editor says rubbing his hands together) the good fight!  The fight of the century?  Mark D. Roberts, friend of the Neophyte Pundit and theologian, battles the witty and irrascible Christopher Hitchens, author and commentator.  The two will tango on today's Hugh Hewitt show, here in Southern California from 3-6pm.  I, for one, look forward to hearing the two battle, as no doubt it will be a fine debate by two who can defend their position with flair and intelligence.

I see Hitchens getting more emotional, even angry at times, than I do Roberts.  As, I believe, the religion that Hitchens' bows down to is Atheism, just as the religion of liberal Dimocrats is politics.  Those Dims who so passionately defend their Social Progressive positions are faithful in their beliefs, just as I am in defending my faith as a Christian.

This debate will be fun and intellectually stimulating.  Find your station and listen in.

Order Mark's book here (I just ordered mine!):

Iran and the US Talk: Really?

Ah, the irony.  We haven't held direct talks with Iran since the Iranian Hostage debacle, thank you Jimmy Carter for giving us the Ayatollahs and the nut job President Ahmawhackjob.  Gee, come to think of it, thanks you Jimmy Carter for the weakness you showed as president, we also watched Russia roll into Afghanistan, which eventually led to the war there that we eventually led to the Taliban...

I recall the days of 'American malaise.'  I remember the gas lines.  I remember the stagflation...gee, that was the time that I was most impressionable, I lived in the People's Republic of Eugene, OR (born and raised, 21 years there, the last 20 here in San Diego, CA).  Perhaps, I should thank Jimmy for my conservative leanings, and my Republican veins...

Downplaying Counter Terror Success

I was a bit under the weather Friday night and early Saturday morning.  In fact I had my head in the loo most of the morning Saturday, so I was behind the news cycle. Now, after playing catch up I have looked a little more closely with the news that there was another plot afoot to attack the Homeland.

Don't ask the Gray Lady, she buried the news back on page 31(?), as it sure wasn't page one news today, nor was it carried on the front page.  It was carried inside.  Downplay the threat.  That seems to be the way the MSM is giving to terror plots such as the JFK plotters, or the Fort Dix gunners.

They begin by saying these were amateurs, guys without the means, and/or the finances to get anything done.  They had no explosives, no greater affiliation, other than they want to kill American's.  Got that? They want to kill as many of us at one time as they can.

As Richard Miniter points out today, the main defendant has said the following:

“From the time I worked in the airport, before terrorism started in this country… These things used to come into my brain- well, I could blow this place up.”

The Israeli-Hezbollah war, which Defreitas pointedly mentioned to the FBI informant, may have been a catalyst, though.

I
, for one, am happy to see that the FBI had infiltrated this group long before it got to become an attack.  The 1993 WTC attack was done with a truck driven below the Towers.  Who would have thought that 4 men would take over a plane with box cutters and use that airplane as a missile to topple the WTC?  What about the bombers in Bali?  They walked into a night club...

The Bashers will give no lead to his policies.  The Patriot Act has worked.  The Foreign Surveillance Act has worked (how many calls were listened to by the FBI/NSA from the USA to Guyana?).

We must remain vigilant.  For those who wish to roll back the last 6 years are doomed to allow history to repeat itself.  However, instead of 3000 Americans dead we may well see 10,000 or God forbid, 1,000,000.  Madame President Hillary, would she revoke the Patriot Act?  The FSA?  Appoint liberal justices to overrule or worse release Guantanamo enemy combatants?  Is that where we really want to be?

Personally, in 2008 if it's Hillary, or Edwards or any Dimocrat for that matter that is in the White House, I am arming my family, and building an encampment in the hills!
