The is an axiom in real estate that there is three important rules to abide by when selecting a property: location, location, location. There is a corollary in presidential politics: wisdom, wisdom, wisdom. Senator McCain's pick meets the test perfectly! Let's look at the two vice presidential picks by McCain versus Obama.
Obama has positioned his candidacy on the fact that he is the 'change agent.' And yet his pick of Senator Joe Biden as his running mate was the exact opposite of that fact. Joe Biden is the very epitome of a Washington insider. Biden is no agent of change. He is the Dimocratic party, and outside of Chucky Schumer and Pat 'Leaky' Leahy there is no more partisan hack. 30 plus years in the legislature becoming a
Senator at the age of 30. Senator Biden falls into the party line and any time there is a microphone or camera available he spouts that line.
The pick of Governor Palin is the best thing to happen to the Republican party in a long time. Can you hear that sucking sound emanating from Denver? That is the air being let out of the arrogant balloon that is the Dimocratic party!!! Now the historic mantle is no longer worn only by the Dimocrats. In fact, I would say that the historic label has just been ripped off the Dimocratic party, and has been replaced by the Republican ticket. Now, if a voter (let's assume that it is the independent leaner) was only going to vote because a minority was on the ticket they now have a choice. The choice is clear, the Republican ticket now has the advantage.
Governor Palin (R-AK) is a Pro-life, gun toting (she's a hunter), drill now (right the center of the debate over energy), reforming (she ran on a platform of ethics reform), prayer warrior (led prayer as the player representative of Fellowship of
Christian Athletes) conservative (one would actually say big C conservative), historic Vice Presidential nominee- she is also a Washington outsider, one might even say a maverick. This pick is devastating to the Dimocratic ticket. There is no better pick. Outside of McCain picking someone in the ilk of Michael Steele or J.C. Watts, McCain could have done no better. I applaud McCain's decision!
Governor Palin is a basketball player (maybe we should have a One-on-One contest between Palin and Obama), advantage McCain. She was a runner up in the Ms. Alaska contest. She is the ultimate example of the Pro-life movement. She recently gave
birth to a Downs Syndrome child, upon gazing into the baby's eyes she is reported to have said that she "saw perfection." She knew by testing that the child had Downs Syndrome. Many on the left, Pro-abortionists would selfishly have chosen to abort the child. How do you answer the inevitable abortion question in a debate with Governor Palin standing next to you? Good luck Joe!
I am so pleased by this pick and look forward to the election now. I was worried that the electorate would ignore Obama's biography (you must read The case Against Barrack Obama by David Freddoso) and vote Dimocratic based on emotion rather than reality. The electorate is swallowing the oratorical style of Obama, the rhetorical mumbo jumbo that Obama offers. The Dimocratic Convention closing with Obama's speech ended with what I believe is symptomatic of the Dimocratic ticket: all style and no substance. The Greco/Roman altar to Obama was sickening and the fireworks were examples of what is wrong with Dimocrats. While looking beautiful there was nothing left in the end. No substance just fleeting images...
The Dimocratic talking points will include that Palin is not ready to step into the role of president (case in point CNN and MSNBC are already spouting the party line! Even so far as to name Palin the next Dan Quayle). But can they really use that argument when the top of the Dimocratic ticket is so inexperienced and is not qualified to be president. Palin is in the enviable role of learning the ropes and can easily be ready for the Presidency in either 2012 or 2016. The United States is ready for Governor Palin to be president. She can be the face of the new Republican party.
My hat is off to the McCain team. And you can bet I will be
contributing more and lending my voice to the Republican party to ensure that in January we will be inaugurating President McCain and Vice President Palin.
A question to Obama/Biden: Will you be as gracious as McCain was in offering congratulations? Can you say momentum changing? McCain's wisdom in running the congratulatory commercial was fantastic! With the knowledge that Governor Palin was the VP pick the commercial was telegraphing the historical nature of this election. This was a stroke of genius!
SLAM DUNK!
What Say You? I've got to run to watch the announcement by Senator McCain of the Vice Presidential nominee: GovernorSarah Palin
