Patriot Post: Founding Father Quote, Thomas Jefferson on Almighty Justice

"And can the liberties of a nation be thought secure when we have removed their only firm basis, a conviction in the minds of the people that these liberties are the gift of God? That they are not to be violated but with his wrath? Indeed I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just: that his justice cannot sleep for ever."

Washington on Divine Providence

"The Hand of providence has been so conspicuous in all this, that he must be worse than an infidel that lacks faith, and more than wicked, that has not gratitude enough to acknowledge his obligations."

President-Elect Obama and the Third Term of Bill Clinton; Bill Clinton for UN Secretary-General?

Okay, I just had a stroke of genius, well okay just an educated guess or maybe it is just gas. Stroke of genius or just a stroke or in the case of AG Mukasey, just a fainting spell.

I know others are saying the same thing, but I am taking mine thought, my theory, one step further. The folks at Hot Air are thinking the along the same lines, as are The Politico as well as the fair and balanced FOXNews.

So I may not be the first to have the thoughts, but I haven't seen anyone go so far as to make the leap that I am about to propose. It's beginning to look a lot like a Clinton Christmas (to the tune of It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas).

Here's my theory: Hillary Clinton extracted her pound of flesh from Obama. To gain her support and her pledged delegates, Hillary secured herself the role of Madame Secretary of State and a whole slew of other Clinton acolytes.

Who knew that with the election of president-elect Obama we would simply have a return of the Clinton Administration! Here we are a few weeks after the election and the Obama transition team has named (leaked) the names of those who would be in his Cabinet and peripheral appointments. By giving her support to (or throwing her support to) Obama, and her delegates, she extracted a price from Obama. Hillary, the grand politician she is, got Secretary of State. Yeah, she is putting up the pretense of struggling with the decision to take the job, but in the end she will take the job, and maybe the jobs of several other former Clinton subordinates.
Look at who else has been named during the transition besides Hillary:

Potential Cabinet Member
Obama Administration Position
Clinton Administration Ties
Rahm (Rhambo) Emanuel White House Chief of Staff Assistant to the President for Political Affairs, Senior Advisor
John Podesta Transition Team Can a Cabinet or White House appointment be far behind? Assistant to the President and as Deputy Chief of Staff
Janet Napolitano Homeland Security    US Attorney, District of Arizona
Eric Holder US Attorney General Deputy Attorney General under Janet Reno, infamous for his hand in the Marc Rich pardon scandal
John Klain VP Chief of Staff Associate Counsel to the President
Timothy Geithner Federal Reserve Chairman    Under Secretary of the Treasury for International Affairs
Larry Summers Treasury Secretary(?) Secretary of the Treasury

I just compiled this list this morning, and the coffee has not kicked in just yet. There will be more and who knows maybe there is even a job for the Old Bill himself, except he is entangled with some pretty unsavory characters with his foundation. Perhaps he can maneuver his way into becoming the United Nations Ambassador. Hey, when does Ban Ki-Moon's term end? Could Bill become the United Nations Secretary-General? Now there is a position he could avail himself and much to the joy of the Democrats and their policy of multi-lateralism, he could guide military and humanitarian efforts. The goal of every Democrat is to ensure the imprimatur of the UN in all things military. Bill could hand in hand with Hillary strike the United States intervention in Iran, Iraq, China, Taiwan, India, etc.
Oh, I feel like I just hit something there. Could this be in the offing.  That would be huge, and as they say, "You heard it here first."

There is so much more and I will be back to expand upon my humble little list...

What Say You? ejadding@gmail.com

Who knew that while linking McCain to the hip of W. that Obama would pull so many Clintonites, one might go so far as to say we now have a Third Term of Bill Clinton…

Attorney General of NJ Rules Against EHarmony: And Other Things to Go What The !@#$

I was listening to Gallagher this morning and he was commenting on a post at Michelle Malkin's blog regarding the recent ruling by the AG in New Jersey against eHarmony. I am absolutely amazed at the lengths that those on the left would go to punish those they disagree with, those that proclaim that they are so wanting tolerance would resort to intolerance. Here is the case of a private company going about its daily routine of putting faith first. The site would match men and women based on a long questionnaire. The company stood by its Christian belief and would not place gays and lesbians in relationship
Along comes one gay man who sued the company, and after years of litigation the NJ AG stepped in and obliterated all sense of tolerance by forcing the company into compliance with its belief in equality.  Sad indeed. It is indicative of the only way that these sorts of cases are solved, with court intervention or in this case, the justice department of the state. As, whenever the case is put before the people, the people vote against the gays and lesbians- case in point Prop. 8. And, when their Gestapo type tactics fail, the court steps in.
Watch out in California, here comes the Supreme Court...there's more about the specifics at Michelle's blog: eHarmony and the tolerance mau-mau-ers
============================================================================================
Here is another case by which you are going to scratch your head and go what the heck.  Here is a video showing a new weapon system that will stop shoulder fired grenades in their tracks. Here is the promise of a missile shield in a smaller version.  This may well be the type of unproven military weapon that president-elect Obama would cut, and leave us vulnerable:

This is part of the  Army's Future Combat System (more at GIZMODO) which "envisions a family of high-tech gear including sensors, aerial drones, and manned and unmanned ground vehicles, all fully networked and linked to individual soldiers" that will ultimately help save lives. These are some truly futuristic plans that will die on the vine in an Obama presidency. Go to the Army's Future Combat System's website, and prepare to be amazed.
Hmmm, I could see some practical uses in the non-military world. Specifically, I bet the airlines would love to have these posted around airports. Alas, we may never see these in operation if Obama and Barney Frank have their way and cut the military...
============================================================================================
So, we were warned by the future vice president-elect Biden that the world would see the new president tested, tested in ways that would not be viewed positively. Biden begged for Obama's biggest donors to stick with them, that the choices that Obama makes will not look to be the right ones, in the beginning. Now, we learn that Iran has enough fissile nuclear material to make one nuclear weapon. So, rest well my friends, because we will have much more to worry about in the near future than the collapse of our 401(k)s, and there will be no resting while we wonder whether the next attack on the Homeland will be nuclear. Now, we get to watch our allies, the Israelis, take matters into their own hands. They can no longer sit back and watch the Iranians build their future holocaust. And, we will watch the Bush Administration come out on the side of the Israeli's while the Obama transition team will come out and ask for restraint on both sides, and Obama calling for talks with Ahmadinejad.  The Israeli's have no choice...

State of California Supreme Court: Prop 8 Challenges Will Be Held

Off we go to the courts. It was inevitable that the activist judiciary that is the California Supreme Court would take up the cases of opposition to Proposition 8: the constitutional amendment passed by 52% of California voters on Nov. 4, 2008. I never for once thought that the measure would go without some serious challenges.
After all, it was a 4-3 split court decision that overruled a measure that affirmed that marriage was between one man and one woman. That measure was passed into law by 62% of the voters in California. The only remedy that backers of marriage between one man and one woman had was to gather enough signatures to put a Constitutional Amedment before the voters thus circumventing the State Supreme Court. Proposition 8 was put before voters on the ballot November 4th. Ever since there has been an uproar in the gay community.
Thousands have gathered and picketed the Mormon Church, harassed the church and went so far as to call a boycott on Utah.  Is it any wonder that the passing of Proposition 8 was barely hours old before a litany of lawsuits were submitted.
The court, in its infinite wisdom, wants to hear arguments as to the validity of the Prop being on the ballot in the first place. The question being is the proposition an amendment needing only a majority of voters or is it a revision to the state's constitution needing a supermajority of the legislature.  Also in question is whether or not the proposition violates the separation of powers doctrine under the state constitution? And, lastly, what is the proper disposition of those who married in the interim between the courts earlier interference and the passing of the Amendment on November 4th?
It seems unlikely that the court would find that the measure qualifies as a revision. Those amendments which have been challenged in the past have in the majority of cases been upheld as amendments. Major changes to the constitution, such as Prop 13, have withstood the challenges and remain in effect as Constitutional Amendments. We can only hope and pray that that is the case with the Marriage Amendment.  However, we cannot rely upon that as the courts have already tossed out the previous Marriage Act and cast aside the vote of 61% of California voters.
I am also saddened to see that the city of San Diego is joining the city of San Francisco in its suit against Prop 8. The deadline for arguments is January 2009 with oral arguments commencing as early as March. The only saving grace at this time is that the SC has decided not to stay the Proposition in the interim.
I guess the only thing left to say is that we cannot sit idly by in this challenging time, we must put up a fight, not inthe literal sense as Prop 8 opponents seem to be doing, but to keep our wits about us, treat the opposition with respect, we would look hypocritical to go out and demonstrate with the anger and forcefulness the opposition has done. We need to continue to argue our case to the people of California, continue show that this is not the taking of anyone's civil rights. The marriage in society has always been deemed between one man and one woman. The fundamental challenge is just that, no one is taking the right of anyone to marry their opposite gender. Everyone  is free to marry within that construct, one man one woman. And, there is nothing wrong with those indivuals who have committed relationships to have the same benefits as marrieds under civil unions or contractual agreements. Those rights are not taken away from anyone.
The best way to keep up the good fight is to go and donate some of your resources to ensure that Prop 8 propponents have just as much resources as the other side does; I did and now I ask all my readers to do the same:

OVERVIEW

Background : The California Supreme Court struck down state laws in May that banned marriage between same-sex couples. This month, voters passed Proposition 8, a constitutional amendment that says only marriages between men and women are valid in the state.

What's changing: The Supreme Court said Wednesday it would review legal challenges to Proposition 8, a decision that pleased both sides of the debate.

The future: Oral arguments may be held as early as March, and a decision is expected sometime in 2009.

Patriot Post: Founding Father Quote, John Adams On Education

Founder's Quote Daily
"It should be your care, therefore, and mine, to elevate the minds of our children and exalt their courage; to accelerate and animate their industry and activity; to excite in them an habitual contempt of meanness, abhorrence of injustice and inhumanity, and an ambition to excel in every capacity, faculty, and virtue. If we suffer their minds to grovel and creep in infancy, they will grovel all their lives."

Patriot Post: Founding Father Quote, Thomas Jefferson on Lying

Founder's Quote Daily

"It is of great importance to set a resolution, not to be shaken, never to tell an untruth. There is no vice so mean, so pitiful, so contemptible; and he who permits himself to tell a lie once, finds it much easier to do it a second and a third time, till at length it becomes habitual; he tells lies without attending to it, and truths without the world's believing him. This falsehood of the tongue leads to that of the heart, and in time depraves all its good disposition."

Tuesday Political Humor: For All Those Who Take Themselves Too Seriously

Heh! This is hilarious in it's seriousness! The Onion now goes to television!

A sweet deal, Extreme Auto Industry Makeover: Democrats want TARP for the Auto Industry- cost: Astronomical! Indeed, they will make the Auto Industry into the green machines they so desire (the overall bailout comes with a price tag: Democrats will now design the automobiles that the greenies want so badly). Question that begs to be offered: if no one is buying the hybrid cars that are currently made, what is going to compel them to buy more? Answer: That's all that Detriot will make, and the Democrats will give $$$ to buyers as well.
$700 Billion Bailout, can you say $1 Trillion, how about $2 Trillion. The Financial Industry was first, Detriot is next, followed by the Airlines? How about the Cities themselves? Or States (California can use a bailout)? An d on it goes...we gave Democrats a huge Blank check on November 4th...and they are going to keep it blank, and merely keep adding to it, that is until 2012 when the Republicans, remade in the core First Principles and Reagan Contract (more on this later), but who will lead us to the promised land? That is the big, BIG question.
Cartoons By Michael Ramirez

Perhaps, we already know who will be appointed head of the Education Department: Czar William Ayers. He will remake the education system in to his vision of utopia: students will be further educated in to the Weather Underground doctrinaire: namely, that revolution will come from the inside, children will take from their parents and give unto the state, smash the military industrial complex, and grow the world in a green utopia, where homes will be less than 2000 sq. ft., thermostats set at 78 degrees, cars now made green by Detroit driven intermittently by Democrat decided terms (ie: birthdays on odd days one day, even the next, etc), a proscribed diet to be made up of green products, everyone becomes a vegan...a utopia mandated by Czar (maybe Tzar is better) William Ayers and President Barack Hussein Obama:

Patriot Post: Founding Father Quote- Joseph Story On The United States Constitution

Founder's Quote Daily

"The constitution of the United States is to receive a reasonable interpretation of its language, and its powers, keeping in view the objects and purposes, for which those powers were conferred. By a reasonable interpretation, we mean, that in case the words are susceptible of two different senses, the one strict, the other more enlarged, that should be adopted, which is most consonant with the apparent objects and intent of the Constitution."

Patriot Post: Founding Father Quote, George Washington on Providence

Founder's Quote Daily

"No country upon earth ever had it more in its power to attain these blessings than United America. Wondrously strange, then, and much to be regretted indeed would it be, were we to neglect the means and to depart from the road which Providence has pointed us to so plainly; I cannot believe it will ever come to pass."

A Few Ponderings: Patriotism and Sacred Oaths

I first wanted to begin with a few quotations for pondering:

Washington on Patriotism

"Guard against the impostures of pretended patriotism."
~~George Washington~~

The first President of the United States was warning us to watch for those who would hide behind a "pretended patriotism." False patriotism. The manner in which one would claim that what is being done is patriotic. That they were the true patriots. When in fact the truth is that their patriotism would be false.

The United States Constitution

"The Senators and Representatives before mentioned, and the Members of the several State Legislatures, and all executive and judicial Officers, both of the United States and of the several States, shall be bound by Oath or Affirmation, to support this Constitution..."

Honor bound to preserve, protect and defend "THIS CONSTITUTION." As it IS, not the "living constitution" amended as to what those who would change it to fit their current social mores and particular political persuasion of the "day." Not, as amended to fit some preconceived notion of the "Citizen of the World." The Constitution is the very foundation of First Principles laid out in the open. Not some broken document that needs to be fixed, to bend to today's judicial activism. The courts in the infinite wisdom have created a climate in which Crosses, The Ten Commandments are banned while the supposed "right" to burn the flag and the "right" to marry whomever and whatever are upheld.  The "right" to abort a living being, a baby being held to the same standard as the right to
freely assemble. Where the freedom is speech is curtailed by those who would institute the wrongly named "Fairness Doctrine."

Jefferson on the Judiciary

"The Constitution... meant that its coordinate branches should be checks on each other. But the opinion which gives to the judges the right to decide what laws are constitutional and what not, not only for themselves in their own sphere of action but for the Legislature and Executive also in their spheres, would make the Judiciary a despotic branch."

~~Thomas Jefferson~~
to Abigail Adams, 1804. ME 11:51

Have we begun to see the very thing that Jefferson so feared. That the judiciary in its fits and starts, has begun to become the very thing that our Founders sought to overthrow? Despots. Those with the ultimate power and there being nothing to stop judicial fiat? The recent overthrowing of the power of the people by judicial fiat in California. Where a vote, a legal and biding vote, by the people of California, whereby marriage is but between one man and one woman? 61% of the people stripped of their power by a judiciary purporting to be the Supreme Law in California. Where a new State Constitutional Amendment stands ratified by 52% of the people, in a fair, legal and binding vote? It stands but by a mere thread. Threatened vehemently and violently by those who demand respect and tolerance, and yet respond by intolerance, and hatred.
Are we seeing the end of our Replublic? Is it crumbling before our very eyes?  Crumbling at the hands of Despots wearing black Judical Robes? Will the be more activist judges to make up the very fabric of the judiciary? The fate of the Republic is in the hands of a man who has broken his promises before? President-elect Obama ran on a platform that sounded more Reaganesque than the supposed Reagan foot soldier.
Barack Obama reneged on his promise to abide by public financing during the campaign when it became absoluetly clear that he could far out raise his opponent. I guarantee you he will renege on his promise of tax cuts for 95% of Americans. As surely as I breathe, he will not cut my taxes or that of anyone earning above $97,000. As vice president elect says, "Mark my words," Barack Obama will renege upon the promises of tax cuts for 95%. And that will be just the beginning...

Patriotism and Sacred Oaths...they have a new meaning...one that I will not be a party to...
I shudder to think of what will become of the judiciary in the coming years. The Supreme Court of the United States.
