Patriot Post: Founding Father Quotes, George Washington on Patriotism and Samuel Adams on Vitrues

Founder's Quote Daily

"Citizens by birth or choice of a common country, that country has a right to concentrate your affections. The name of American, which belongs to you, in your national capacity, must always exalt the just pride of Patriotism, more than any appellation derived from local discriminations."

~~George Washington~~
Farewell Address, 1796

Founder's Quote Daily

"Since private and publick Vices, are in Reality, though not always apparently, so nearly connected, of how much Importance, how necessary is it, that the utmost Pains be taken by the Publick, to have the Principles of Virtue early inculcated on the Minds even of children, and the moral Sense kept alive, and that the wise institutions of our Ancestors for these great Purposes be encouraged by the Government. For no people will tamely surrender their Liberties, nor can any be easily subdued, when knowledge is diffusd and Virtue is preservd. On the Contrary, when People are universally ignorant, and debauchd in their Manners, they will sink under their own weight without the Aid of foreign Invaders."

--Samuel Adams~~
letter to James Warren, 4 November 1775

Patriot Post: Founding Father Quote, Noah Webster on Virtue

Founder's Quote Daily

"The virtues of men are of more consequence to society than their abilities; and for this reason, the heart should be cultivated with more assiduity than the head."

~~Noah Webster~~

Chicago Politics Exposed: Gov. Rod Blagojevich Arrested

Someone pinch me, I must be dreaming. Gov. Rod Blagojevich was arrested, along with his chief of staff John Harris, simultaneously at their homes. Color me shocked! Chicago politics is corrupt? Naw, you don't say. We are learning the dirty details of the scandalous shenanigans that Blagojevich amployed. Pay for play, selling the Senate seat that President-elect Obama vacated with his election.
One side note that I have not seen in any accounts nor on any new reports on the news networks. Hmmm...

"The breadth of corruption laid out in these charges is
staggering," U.S. Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald said in

This is the same United States Attorney General that is prosecuting the Tony Rezko case.  Think there might be some kind of relationship between Rezko and Blagojevich? Oh you can bet your arse on that one! Rezko was a major contributor to the crooked governor's election. Follow the money they say, follow the money.
The timing of this is just a little uncomfortable for me. Had this news come out earlier we may not have had a president-elect Obama. there is a lot to this story that we don't know. How many discussions with then Senator Obama and the governor?
This is Chicago politics. And, we should not be surprised that the stench of foul politics will follow to the Whiote House.  The future president-elect's chief of staff is none other than Chicago insider Rham Emanuel. There is a culture of corruption in Chicago and it will be laid clear when Obama takes office. We should not be surprised.
Blagojevich tried to make the case that the FBI and US Attorney were working a new Watergate. Nice try. The defense is going to have a hard time defending the words of the accused.  Oh, we are in for a long 4 years, and let's pray that its not 8 years.  This case is just beginning to unravel and we will have lots to digest.
Again, the stench of corruption in DC just got a whole lot worse.

Founder's Quote Daily

"The same prudence which in private life would forbid our paying our own money for unexplained projects, forbids it in the dispensation of the public moneys."
