Portrait of Courage
Details continue to emerge regarding the shooting at Ft. Hood , TX. After news reports first emerged the reports were that both the officer responsible for ending the massacre and the shooter were dead. Now we know that both are alive; the heroine, mother and civilian police officer Kimberly Munley is in stable condition and the murderer, Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan is on life support (I choose not to use the term "alleged" when the man was caught in the act).
Talk about courage under fire (and there are many in this tragic murder story) Officer Munley was on traffic detail, her usual job on the "sprawling base,"
when:
"By chance, she and her partner happened to walk past
the Soldiers’ Readiness Processing Centre soon after
Major Hasan — armed with two handguns — cornered
his fellow soldiers. Soldiers who witnessed the rampage
described the gunfire as continuous, methodical and well aimed.
Ms Munley succeeded in bringing him down by shooting him
four times, even after being hit by a bullet that passed through
both her legs, according to witnesses.
Holy Cow, she was shot, bleeding and under fire and took the guy out. She is a hero. No doubt about it. She is not the only hero that we will hear about from that day. Much like 9/11 when confronted with tragic events, while under the most incredible pressure there are those who will run toward gunfire rather than away. Or, as in the case of firefighters and police officers, run toward the fire.
There are a myriad of stories about. The Maj. was a convert to Islam, he yelled "Allahu akbar (God is greatest)," there are reports of the Maj. giving away his furniture and Korans. We will learn much in the days, weeks and months to come. In some small way I hope the Major survives, if only in that way can we find out his true motives. In another way I wish he had died as I don't want to see justice drawn out with the ACLU dragging the American justice system in to the gutter.
Cowardice:
The ink from the election had barely dried on the ballots of those who chose to vote for Bill Owens, newly elected Democrat to the House from NY's 23rd District, for him to break 4 campaign promises. At this point I am going to say it is unconfirmed, as the link provided by Drudge, Big Government and others is broken- the link provided is from
Gouverneur Times , is it down for too many hits or a bogus story? I'll lean toward a downed server. I didn't follow the race close enough, but it would be rather sneaky, and underhanded that in order to win (to draw the independent vote) Owens had to oppose the Health Care Reform in the campaign, but then:

Owens beat Conservative Doug Hoffman in the special election on Tuesday after Republican Dierdre Scozzafava (skoh-zuh-FAH'-vuh) withdrew under pressure from the party's right wing.
The seat was vacated when John McHugh became secretary of the Army. Owens is the first Democratic congressman from the region since 1857.
House Democrats had hoped to pass a health care bill Saturday but acknowledged Friday they didn't have enough votes yet.
He must have had stars in his eyes when President Obama walked into the room and forgot where he was. Then, in a daze walked over to his swearing in, then off to the House floor and when San Fran Nan called out Yea- he yelled "Yay!!!" as in I won...I have no respect for the Democrats. With all of their deceitful shenanigans with regard to Health Care Reform, nothing surprises me...
Presidential Foolishness:
Obama's first response in public is to give a "
shout out." And the left is still talking about President Bush and his response to hearing that the Twin Towers had been struck by terrorists. Talk about insensitive. For all of his intelligence, for all of his eloquence, for the man who surrounds himself with the best the left has to offer and this is the best they could come up with. Fully, two minutes goes by before he mentions the Ft. Hood massacre...
He and his entire staff, notice the fist pump; his signal that we better take this very seriously...huh? The conference? A rather disappointing performance President Obama...
